Mugen has launched a Sport Steering Wheel for the Honda Prelude in Japan, priced at ¥143,000 including tax, with sales starting September 3.
The material mix is deliberate: dry carbon across the top arc, punched leather on the outer left and right sections where palms rest, and Alcantara on the inner faces where fingers hook, finished with blue stitching and a Mugen logo emblem. Mugen also lists compatibility with the Japanese-market Civic e:HEV RS.
The driver's-seat upgrade
A steering wheel is the most intimate part a tuner can sell — the one component the driver touches every second — and this one is pitched at the character Mugen describes for its Prelude parts range under its "Gliding Sports Coupe" concept: more special from the driver's seat rather than louder from the outside.
The wheel joins Mugen's existing Prelude lineup rather than opening it — the brand already offers parts for the coupe — and it lands in the same week the Civic Type R FL5's aftermarket produced a ¥423,500 dry-carbon wing. Japan's tuning industry is busy around current Hondas.
Mugen's Japanese announcement does not specify overseas pricing or availability for the steering wheel.
